Aria HR & Kent Employment Solutions are partnering again in the recruitment of a Cost Account or Financial Analyst for our west side client.
This role is in a growing west side firm. This is an excellent opportunity to explore the medical manufacturing space.
Role:
The Cost Accountant is responsible for accurately maintaining the company's cost accounting system, including preparing, processing, analyzing, reconciling and reporting financial data. Using knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), current regulations, systems used I the organization. The Cost Accountant oversees, evaluates, and improves costing and other financial processes to improve accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
Core responsibilities also include providing financial analysis, supporting company-wide process improvement initiatives, and mentoring others on how to interpret and utilize financial information.
Responsibilities:
Maintain cost accounting system, including overseeing COGS account activities, calculating overhead rates and providing monthly COGS reporting to management
Prepare and submit journal entries, properly maintaining general ledger, cost center and internal order structures in SAP
Reconcile GL accounts monthly, including resolving outstanding items
Prepare and disseminate routine and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis, utilizing complex spread sheets as needed
Interpret financial data, identify trends and opportunities, and submit reports and/or recommendations to management
Mentor employees at all levels in the organization regarding the interpretation and
Utilization of financial information
Assist in preparing annual budgets
Prepare schedules and support for annual audit and tax return processes
Cross train with other accounting team members to ensure adequate coverage of duties
Implement process improvements in alignment with the company's and the department's strategic goals
Create and maintain documentation of accounting processes
Skills, Expertise, and Education:
BA/BS degree in accounting or equivalent experience required
2-5 years professional experience in an accounting or industrial engineering role required
SAP experience highly preferred
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and/or activity based costing preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong knowledge of GAAP, including basic accounting concepts, practices and procedures
Strong organizational skills in order to prioritize and complete work efficiently
Ability to independently conduct research and exercise judgment when resolving issues
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Personable and professional
Ability to effectively mentor others
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
Detail oriented - an eye for accuracy
Motivation and persistence to complete critical tasks in a timely manner
Occasional travel (once or twice per year
