In this role, you will have a significant impact on the accountability of financial transactions throughout the City, ensuring timely and accurate financial information through consistent monitoring and reconciliation.
Role and
Responsibilities:
As the Accounting Specialist, your role will involve daily reconciliations of banking activities from the previous day with transactions entered into Munis, our City's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
You will play a key role in preparing and posting journal entries for monthly activity, corrections, and adjustments.
Additionally, you'll be actively involved in monthly billing for assessment accounts, ensuring accurate and timely payment processing.
Beyond these core responsibilities, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to various projects throughout the year, including tasks such as audit preparation, capital asset record management, year-end closing procedures, and more.
Your responsibilities will include:
Reconciling daily banking activities with the general ledger.
Preparing precise and timely journal entries.
Executing month-end and year-end closing processes.
Ensuring reconciliation of account balances within Munis and across other subsidiary modules like Active Net, Accela, and Municipal Court systems.
Generating monthly invoices for assessment accounts and title companies.
Assisting with workpapers and journal entries for the annual audit.

As you step into this role, you will immediately contribute to the preparation of audit workpapers for the fiscal year 2023 financial statements.
Your involvement will also encompass daily banking tasks and monthly account reconciliation right from the start.
You will play a pivotal role in our capital asset recordkeeping, actively shaping the process for consistent recognition throughout the year.
Acceptable Experience and Training Associate's degree; AND 3 years' experience related to area of assignment; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
