Hillsboro, OR / Analytical Instruments Group / Materials and Structural Analysis Division / Electron Microscopy Business Unit / EM Semiconductor OrganizationHow will you make an impact?The Workflow Sr Applications Development Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise in the support of Thermo Fisher Scientific's workflow solutions connecting DualBeam sample preparation and TEM. This position is ideal for an experienced technologist wanting to be involved with a dynamic team and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas. This role builds bridges in semiconductor developments cross continents between R, marketing and customers based on a strong knowledge and understanding of DualBeam sample preparation and TEM analysis!What will you do?Collaborate with both our Systems and Software groups to ensure workflow requirements are well understood, developed, integrated and thoroughly testedCultivating positive customer relationships and acting as a high level customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues, explaining complex technology details, giving in depth technical presentations, and assisting in applications development.Provide continuous feedback to the product groups on workflow features and potential problems while strongly collaborating with marketing/development groups on future developments.Deliver Best Practice Document customization to customer-specific processes and run qualification experiments to drive the use of Thermo Fisher Scientific's workflow solution in production.Conduct customer training and translate customer needs into workable solutions.Process development and other technical work at the customer site.Providing technical product expertise assistance with all phases of the sales cycle.Provide technical support to Sales and Service Desk, R, Manufacturing, Customer Service and other departments as required.How will you get here?University degree in Materials Science, Chemistry and or Physics or related is required, and an advanced degree is preferred.7
years of experience in a semiconductor equipment environment Knowledge and recent hands-on experience with DualBeam and/or TEM (one of them required, both desired)Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of advanced technology diagnostics as well as troubleshooting techniques, operational optimization, and experience of analytical equipment; specifically, electron/ion microscopesKnowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processesAbility to work independently as well as in the teamStrong communication ability is required due to the multi-functional and technically complex roleMust have professional working proficiency in English. Dutch language skills are helpfulExcellent customer interfacing skills is a mustProven ability to work well with multi-functional and cross-cultural teamsAbility to write (scientific) papers and other publicationsAbility to travel internationally (up to 25%), ability to obtain a valid passport.Effective communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skillsAbility to work effectively as a team member within a cross-functional team as well as to work independently and handle multiple tasksPosition may require Covid-19 vaccination and/or routine testing, per client discretion.
